New Aggies (6/9): Marcus Watson

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

Don't know about you, but we can't keep up with all the talent Chris Jans has brought in, particularly in the last few months. This predicament inspired us to start a blog series on newcomers for the 2020 season. This is not limited to the 2020 recruiting class but will cover all Aggies we have yet to see suit up. Please enjoy the sixth installment of this 9-part series!

Did we miss something? Let us know in the comments!

High school and JuCo Rankings
  • Four stars coming out of high school. Offers from: Oregon, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Boston College, should we go on?

  • A source close to the program told NM State Nation that Watson is "The best talent at NM State since Pascal Siakam." On-paper, he appears that way, we're not surprised that those close to the program believe the same. If you're anything like us, this should physically arouse you.

  • You are welcome.

Eligibility and Fit
  • 3.5 years of eligibility after transferring from OK State mid-season. Watson should join the squad in mid-December unless he receives approval from the NCAA to join before then.

  • Clayton Henry has the wing position locked down; it sounds like Watson's athleticism will be too much to keep on the bench though. Expect him to split time at the wing.

Aggie Comparison
  • Tyrone Watson (2009-13)

  • Wendell McKines (2008-12)
